Iran has announced the end of its current military operations against Israel after a fresh round of exchanges between the two countries, while warning that any new Israeli attacks would trigger an even stronger response.
In a statement issued on Monday, Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters said the latest phase of attacks had concluded.
However, it stressed that Tehran remains prepared to retaliate if Israel launches further strikes, including operations in southern Lebanon.
“If Israeli aggression continues, including in southern Lebanon, our response will be more severe and forceful than before,” the military command said.
The announcement follows a tense 24 hours that saw Israel and Iran trade attacks across multiple fronts. Iran said its military action was launched in response to Israeli air strikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs on Sunday.
Earlier on Monday, Hezbollah claimed responsibility for a rocket attack targeting Israeli troops in southern Lebanon, where Israeli forces say they are conducting operations aimed at preventing cross-border rocket fire into northern Israel.
The conflict also spilled into the energy sector. Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said they targeted a petrochemical facility in northern Israel after Israeli forces struck what they described as several targets at an Iranian petrochemical site.
The Israeli military also reported carrying out a large-scale operation against strategic defence systems inside Iran.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei accused the United States of bearing responsibility for Israeli actions, warning that any consequences arising from further escalation would also fall on Washington.
Despite the renewed violence, Baghaei said communication between Tehran and Washington had not completely stopped, although he did not specify whether contacts had continued throughout the latest round of fighting.
The developments came as U.S. President Donald Trump urged both sides to end hostilities. Trump said he believed Israel and Iran were moving toward an “immediate ceasefire” and called for a rapid de-escalation of the conflict.
