Jaiz Bank Plc has highlighted its commitment to trade financing and export development as it seeks to expand support for Nigerian businesses and strengthen the country’s non-interest banking sector.

The bank has continued to provide financing for businesses involved in trade and other productive activities, while identifying export-oriented enterprises as an important area for growth.

Export financing can help businesses purchase goods locally, process products and meet the costs associated with selling to international markets.

Jaiz Bank has previously worked with the International Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC), a subsidiary of the Islamic Development Bank Group, to provide trade financing for eligible Nigerian businesses.

The partnership has supported businesses with foreign exchange earnings and helped promote export-related activities.

The bank’s wider growth strategy also includes expanding financing for small and medium-sized enterprises, manufacturing and other key sectors.

In June 2026, its shareholders approved plans to raise up to ₦150 billion in additional capital, subject to regulatory approvals, to strengthen its financial position and support expansion.

Greater access to export financing could help Nigerian businesses reach international customers, earn foreign exchange and reduce some of the financial barriers associated with cross-border trade.

However, the effectiveness of such support will depend on the financing available, eligibility requirements and the ability of businesses to compete in overseas markets.
