JUST IN: Bandits attack Kwara communities, Kidnap scores in midnight raid

Gunmen suspected to be terror bandits on Thursday night launched coordinated attacks on several communities in Isin and Ifelodun Local Government Areas of Kwara State, abducting scores of residents and killing one person during a gun battle in Famole community.

Sources according to Sahara Reporters said the criminal elements simultaneously stormed Gaa-Oke Abba and Gaa-Alla communities in Isin Local Government Area, as well as Famole community in Ifelodun Local Government Area.

The attackers struck the affected communities at about 10pm, abducting several people and leaving residents scampering for safety.

The source disclosed that in Gaa-Alla community, at least two persons were kidnapped by the gunmen.

“In Gaa-Alla, two people were taken away by the terrorists,” the source said.

The source, however, noted that the exact number of victims abducted from Gaa-Oke Abba could not immediately be ascertained.

“The number of people kidnapped in Gaa-Oke Abba is still unknown because efforts are ongoing to determine the full extent of the attack,” the source added.

Another source revealed that the attack on Famole community in Ifelodun Local Government Area turned deadly after residents reportedly engaged the attackers in an exchange of gunfire.

The source said one person was killed during the incident.

“The bandits’ attack on the Famole community in the night resulted in one fatality after an exchange of gunfire.

The authorities are yet to issue an official statement in respect to the development.
