(DDM) — The Obidient Movement in Enugu State has launched a renewed push for grassroots mobilisation, urging members across the state to strengthen local structures in preparation for future political engagements.

The call was made on Sunday by the State Coordinator, Chukwude Ikenna Claat, who emphasized the need for coordinated action at the ward, polling unit, and local government levels.

According to him, the movement is transitioning from a phase of enthusiasm and public support to one focused on building sustainable political structures capable of influencing electoral outcomes.

He noted that the next critical step involves consolidating support at the grassroots, ensuring that every Local Government Area (LGA) becomes active, informed, and strategically aligned.

As part of this effort, members were directed to join their respective LGA WhatsApp groups, which he described as the “engine room” for coordination and mobilisation.

The coordinator explained that these digital platforms would serve as hubs for local strategy development, voter education, and rapid dissemination of information.

He further highlighted that activities within the groups would include Permanent Voter Card (PVC) sensitisation campaigns and mobilisation for political registration under emerging platforms such as the African Democratic Congress.

Claat stressed that participation should go beyond mere membership, urging supporters to actively recruit others into the movement to expand its reach and influence.

He encouraged members to bring in friends, family members, colleagues, and neighbours who are willing to contribute actively to the movement’s objectives.

Political observers say the move reflects a broader strategy by emerging political blocs to build strong grassroots networks ahead of the 2027 general elections.

They note that effective local coordination and voter mobilisation are often decisive factors in Nigeria’s electoral process, particularly in states with high voter populations like Enugu.

The Obidient Movement, which gained prominence during the last general elections, has continued to evolve into a structured political force with growing influence among youths and urban voters.

Analysts believe that the emphasis on grassroots organisation signals a shift towards long-term political engagement rather than short-term campaign activities.

As the movement deepens its structures across the 17 LGAs in Enugu State, stakeholders say its success will depend largely on sustained participation, strategic coordination, and the ability to convert support into measurable electoral outcomes.
