Juventus are reportedly considering a sensational move for former Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi as uncertainty grows over Luciano Spalletti’s future following an underwhelming start to the Serie A season.
The former Inter boss, who currently manages Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal, has emerged as a potential long-term option for the Turin giants as the club’s hierarchy evaluates its managerial plans amid growing expectations for improved results.
According to reports from Italy, Juventus hold Inzaghi in high regard and could explore the possibility of bringing him back to Italian football if their current project under Spalletti fails to deliver the expected results.
Spalletti has come under increasing scrutiny after Juventus collected just 11 points from their opening seven league matches, recording three victories, two draws and two defeats. The inconsistent run has raised concerns about the club’s ability to maintain a serious challenge for a top-four finish.
For a club with Juventus’ history and ambitions, a slow start inevitably attracts attention. The Bianconeri are expected to compete at the highest level domestically and secure qualification for the UEFA Champions League, making consistency a priority as the campaign progresses.
Despite the growing pressure, Spalletti is not understood to be facing an immediate dismissal. His contract runs until 2028, and the club’s leadership reportedly remains reluctant to make a sudden managerial change while there is still time to improve the team’s performances.
However, patience could become increasingly difficult to maintain if Juventus continue dropping points in matches they are expected to win.
Reports suggest that Stefano Pioli and Antonio Conte have been mentioned as possible short-term alternatives should the club decide that an immediate change is necessary. Both managers have extensive experience in Italian football, although no appointment has been confirmed.
The situation could develop differently if Juventus allow Spalletti to remain in charge until the end of the season. Should the team fail to qualify for the Champions League, the club could consider a more comprehensive change in direction, with Inzaghi reportedly among the leading candidates for a permanent appointment.
Inzaghi’s achievements at Inter make him an attractive option. During his spell in Milan, he established himself as one of the leading Italian coaches of his generation, guiding the Nerazzurri to the Serie A title in the 2023/24 campaign.
His trophy collection also includes two Coppa Italia titles and three Supercoppa Italiana triumphs, underlining his ability to deliver silverware in domestic competitions.
Inzaghi further strengthened his reputation in Europe by leading Inter to the Champions League final in 2023 and again in 2025. Although Inter did not win either final, their progress demonstrated the tactical organisation and competitive consistency that characterised his tenure.
Those achievements could appeal to Juventus as the club considers what it needs from its next managerial project. Inzaghi’s experience managing elite players, competing for major honours and navigating high-pressure European fixtures would make him a significant candidate if the position became available.
His current role at Al Hilal, however, adds another dimension to the situation. Any potential move would depend on several factors, including Juventus’ willingness to make a change, Inzaghi’s own ambitions and the practical arrangements required to secure his services.
For now, the immediate focus remains on Spalletti and whether he can turn Juventus’ inconsistent start into a sustained run of positive results.
The Italian coach will need his players to demonstrate greater consistency and translate their performances into victories if he is to ease concerns surrounding his position. A successful response could strengthen his standing and convince the club’s hierarchy that its existing project remains on the right track.
Nevertheless, the reported interest in Inzaghi suggests that Juventus may already be assessing possible alternatives should the situation deteriorate.
With Champions League qualification carrying major sporting and financial importance, the coming months could prove decisive for Spalletti’s future in Turin.
For Inzaghi, meanwhile, the speculation raises the possibility of a return to Serie A after his spell at Al Hilal. Whether that possibility develops into a formal approach remains uncertain, but his reported emergence as a Juventus candidate adds another layer of intrigue to the club’s managerial situation.
