Kano CP in closed-door meeting with INEC REC as tension mounts

The Kano State Commissioner of Police, Wakili Mohammed has entered into a closed-door meeting with the state INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Prof. Riskuwa Shehu.

Although details of the meeting which started three minutes ago are still shrouded in secrecy, it was gathered that it was meant to reassess the security situation in the state especially as it pertains to INEC facilities as a result of the political tension in the State.

Elombah News has reported that the Kano State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Rabiu Bichi urged the INEC returning officer for the governorship elections to declare the party and it’s candidate, winner of Saturday’s polls to ease the tension in the state.

Bichi said this while speaking to the media after a briefing by the state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Prof. Riskuwa Shehu, in Kano on Monday.

Meanwhile, there has been an increase in the presence of armed soldiers and policemen as well as officers of the NSCDC around the INEC headquarters.

Visitors and staff are subjected to a search before allowed entry into the facility.
