MANCHESTER, England — Manchester United are reportedly continuing their search for a new left-back, with Newcastle United defender Lewis Hall and Arsenal youngster Myles Lewis-Skelly emerging as two of the club’s leading transfer targets ahead of the new Premier League season.
The Red Devils are understood to be keen on strengthening their defensive options as part of their ongoing squad rebuild under head coach Michael Carrick. After reinforcing the midfield during the current transfer window, club officials are now focusing on adding quality at left-back before the transfer deadline.
Lewis Hall has reportedly become one of Manchester United’s priority targets. The 21-year-old England international has impressed with Newcastle United through his versatility, energy and technical ability. Hutchison believes the Brazilian possesses the qualities needed to strengthen United’s midfield and suggested the club may have missed an opportunity by not completing the transfer.
He praised Manchester United’s overall recruitment during the current transfer window but argued that Ederson would have added further quality and balance to the squad. Hutchison also suggested the club’s transfer strategy appears to have shifted away from pursuing extremely expensive signings in favour of younger players with long-term potential.
