Mohbad’s widow speaks on family rift with father-in-law over DNA and property claims

The widow of late Nigerian singer Mohbad, Omowunmi Aloba, has spoken publicly about her ongoing disagreement with her father-in-law, Mr. Joseph Aloba, revealing that the conflict stems from issues surrounding her late husband’s estate and family tensions.

Speaking in a recent interview, Wunmi alleged that the relationship between her and her father-in-law deteriorated shortly after Mohbad’s death, claiming that discussions around property and royalties became a major point of contention within the family.

She stated that rather than focusing on unity and mourning, the attention shifted to the singer’s assets, which she believes has fueled the long-standing dispute.

According to her, the situation worsened when the issue of a DNA test for her son, Liam, was raised, a development she described as deeply painful and emotionally draining.

“Baba Mohbad wants something I can’t give him. He wants the DNA of my child to be negative,” she said during the interview.

Wunmi added that she and her father-in-law were once on good terms before disagreements over family matters and the aftermath of Mohbad’s passing changed their relationship.

She also maintained that she has never refused to carry out a DNA test, insisting that she remains open to it in order to clarify doubts about her son’s paternity.

However, the family tension has continued to generate public debate, especially as Mr. Joseph Aloba has previously expressed suspicions regarding circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death claims Wunmi has strongly denied.

As of the time of filing this report, both parties remain at odds, with no official resolution reached in the ongoing family dispute.
