MTN Nigeria has warned its subscribers against fake 25GB data giveaway offers circulating online as part of its 25th anniversary celebrations.
The telecommunications company issued the warning through its support account on X on Saturday, urging customers to be careful of suspicious links and platforms requesting personal information or payment in exchange for the supposed offer.
MTN said the official 25GB anniversary giveaway is available only through the MyMTN NG App and MTN eShop.
“Please beware of fake MTN 25th Anniversary 25GB giveaway offers circulating online.
“The official MTN 25GB Anniversary Giveaway is available ONLY via the MyMTN NG App and MTN eShop.
“Do not click on links, share your personal information or make payments on any other platform claiming to offer the giveaway. Only trust official MTN channels,” the company said.
MTN, in a separate post, explained that eligible subscribers can access the offer by logging into the MyMTN App and selecting “Redeem Now” on the anniversary banner.
Subscribers can also access the offer through the MTN eShop and follow the instructions to activate the bundle if they are eligible.
The company added that eligible customers could also use the link contained in an official SMS notification sent to them regarding the offer.
MTN urged subscribers to rely only on information and messages from its verified platforms when accessing the anniversary promotion.
The company also stated that the 25GB free data bundle would remain valid until 11:59pm on the stated expiry date, advising eligible subscribers to redeem the offer before it expires.
The warning followed the circulation of several online posts and links claiming to offer free MTN data to subscribers.
MTN therefore advised customers to avoid unauthorised websites and platforms requesting personal details, payments or other sensitive information in exchange for the supposed 25GB giveaway.
