NDC Condemns Plateau, Taraba and Kaduna Killings, Blames Rising Insecurity

(DDM) — The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has condemned the recent wave of killings across Plateau State, Taraba State, and Kaduna State, describing the incidents as a reflection of Nigeria’s worsening security situation.

The group expressed concern over what it called the continued failure of authorities to effectively address the rising cases of violence affecting multiple regions of the country.

It noted that the repeated attacks have left several communities in fear, with many residents displaced and critical socio-economic activities disrupted.

According to the statement, the killings highlight deep-rooted security challenges that require urgent and coordinated intervention from all levels of government.

The organisation criticised what it described as a lack of decisive action in preventing recurring violence, warning that continued inaction could further destabilise affected regions.

It called on the Federal Government and security agencies to intensify efforts to restore peace and ensure accountability for those behind the attacks.

The group also urged state authorities to strengthen local intelligence networks and improve community engagement to prevent further escalation of insecurity.

Observers say the Middle Belt and parts of northern Nigeria have continued to experience repeated cycles of violence, often linked to communal clashes, banditry, and other security threats.

They argue that without sustained reforms in security operations and governance, the situation may continue to deteriorate.

Civil society voices have also joined in calling for more proactive measures, including improved early warning systems and stronger protection for vulnerable communities.

Authorities have yet to issue a comprehensive response to the latest condemnation, though security operations are reportedly ongoing in affected areas.
