The Federal Government is preparing to medically evacuate a 42-year-old Ugandan-born woman who tested positive for Ebola in Abuja on October 20, according to a report by The Guardian.

The woman, who lives in Abuja, was identified as Nigeria’s first confirmed Ebola case in more than a decade.

A video circulating on X reportedly showed a medical evacuation aircraft on the tarmac, with ground crew preparing for the patient’s transfer.

The patient’s husband, who also travelled to Uganda earlier in October, is currently in isolation but has not developed symptoms, according to the Swiss Foreign Ministry.

The ministry also said all 25 staff members at its embassy in Nigeria were in good health and did not require isolation.

It further disclosed that the woman had spent about a week receiving treatment at a private clinic in Abuja while experiencing symptoms before she was diagnosed with Ebola.

Further details about the planned evacuation were expected.
