The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has deployed a Passport Intervention Team to the United Kingdom to clear pending applications and assist Nigerians seeking new and renewed passports.
The move followed a directive by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, to the Comptroller-General of Immigration, K. N. Nandap, as part of efforts to improve passport services for Nigerians in the diaspora.
The team is expected to arrive in the UK on Monday, August 10, 2026, and will work with the Nigerian High Commission to process passport applications.
It will also visit designated cities across the country to conduct enrolment and other passport-related services, allowing applicants outside London to access the exercise.
Who Can Apply
According to the NIS, the intervention is open to Nigerians with pending passport applications, new applicants and holders of passports with less than one year to expiry who wish to renew them.
Applicants are expected to bring their completed application forms and proof of payment for enrolment.
The immigration service said details of the cities to be visited, dates, venues and enrolment times would be announced separately.
It advised applicants not to travel to any location until the official schedule is released.
“Applicants are therefore advised not to proceed to any location until the relevant schedule has been officially communicated,” the NIS said.
The agency urged Nigerians in the UK to monitor the official communication channels of the Nigerian High Commission for updates on the exercise.

The NIS said its digital passport application platforms, including the Contactless Passport Application System, would remain operational throughout the intervention.
It added that the home delivery option would also remain available to applicants.
The service said the exercise was part of its efforts to provide faster and more responsive passport services to Nigerians both at home and abroad.
