LAGOS, LAGOS STATE – The Lagos State Police Command has unveiled a new special security unit known as the “Command Sweepers Squad” in Ikorodu as part of efforts to strengthen security operations and address emerging safety concerns across the state.
The initiative is aimed at improving rapid response to criminal activities and restoring public confidence in law enforcement, particularly in communities experiencing rising insecurity concerns.
The Lagos State Police Command said the new squad will operate as a specialised tactical unit focused on intelligence-driven patrols, targeted operations, and quick intervention in security incidents.
New Security Strategy In Ikorodu
Authorities said the Command Sweepers Squad was officially launched in Ikorodu, a rapidly growing area that has experienced security challenges linked to urban expansion and population growth.
Police officials explained that the unit will be strategically deployed to hotspots identified through intelligence reports and community feedback.
They added that the squad is expected to work closely with local divisions, neighbourhood watch groups, and other security stakeholders to ensure coordinated operations.
Strengthening Public Confidence
The police command stated that the creation of the special squad reflects its commitment to adapting modern policing strategies to emerging security threats.
It emphasized that restoring public trust remains a key priority, particularly in areas where residents have expressed concerns over safety.
