Ohanaeze Youth president Comrade Igboayaka, labels Sen. Uzor Kalu a ‘Kitchen slave’

Comrade Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, National President of the Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC), has strongly criticized Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, who represents Abia North in the Nigerian Senate and previously served as Governor of Abia State.
OYC is the foremost socio-cultural youth organization representing the Igbo people globally.
In a press statement, Comrade Igboayaka labeled Senator Kalu a “kitchen slave” within Nigeria’s political system, suggesting that his actions reflect subservience rather than genuine leadership.
This sharp comment came as a response to a viral video in which Senator Kalu passionately affirmed his commitment to Nigeria’s unity, saying:
“We don’t want this country to break… I love the country.
“I am a product of this country, and I am very proud that I am a Nigerian.”
The senator’s remarks were interpreted by some as an attempt to downplay growing separatist sentiments among segments of the Igbo population and to reinforce allegiance to the Nigerian state.
However, Comrade Igboayaka dismissed Senator Kalu’s statement as unrepresentative of the broader Igbo perspective.
According to Igboayaka, Kalu lacks the moral and political credibility to speak on behalf of Ndigbo.
He suggested that the senator’s expression of patriotism may be less about national unity and more about currying favor with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for personal political gain.
Comrade Igboayaka emphasized that such remarks highlight a larger issue of political self-interest among some Igbo leaders, who prioritize personal advancement over the collective interests and legitimate concerns of their people.
He lamented that the current political climate in Nigeria, especially in the Southeast, suffers from a lack of authentic representation, pointing to Kalu’s public statement as an example of compromised leadership.
The OYC president’s reaction reflects ongoing tensions within the Nigerian federation.
This is particularly surrounding issues of marginalization, national identity, and the role of Igbo leaders in advocating for their communities.
By calling Senator Kalu a “kitchen slave,” Igboayaka underscores what he sees as the senator’s subservient posture in the larger political arena.
He claims it is where national loyalty is allegedly being used as a tool for political positioning rather than genuine nation-building.
This exchange further amplifies debates within the Igbo socio-political space regarding the authenticity, integrity, and intentions of those claiming to represent their interests at the national level.
In his words, Igboayaka said,
“Sadly, in today’s Nigeria, mainly in Igbo land, Orji Uzor Kalu does not possess the requisite integrity to represent or speak for Ndigbo”
Igboayaka said Kalu was seemingly motivated by a desire to gain favour with President Bola Tinubu for personal advantage.
Igboayaka continued, “Orji Uzor Kalu improperly used the phrase ‘we don’t want Nigeria to break.’
“What individuals are part of this “we”?
Who is Orji Uzor Kalu speaking for?”
Igboayaka claimed Kalu’s statement does not reflect the views of Abia North.
He stated that over fifty million Igbo youths under the OYC were advocating for Biafra or a separate nation for Ndigbo.
According to him, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) LED BY Mazi Nnamdi Kanu have been demanding a referendum in Nigeria, without violence.
Igboayaka challenged Kalu to convene a convene a constituency briefing in his Senatorial District, Abia North.
He dared Kalu to call for a vote on whether Abia North desires Nigeria’s continued unity or separation.
Igboyaka said,
“If Orji Uzor Kalu wins the election, I will take immediate action to relinquish my Nigerian citizenship and enter into compulsory exile.
“In contrast, if the opposing faction in Abia North Senatorial District, which seeks Nigeria’s dissolution, emerges victorious, Orji Uzor Kalu will be held accountable for his alleged transgressions.”
He went on to ask,
“Orji Uzor Kalu, what is the rationale behind Nigerian unity when non-native groups, notably the Fulani, engage in ethnic cleansing and jihadist wars against indigenous tribes, causing devastation in the Middle Belt and beyond, even affecting Enugu and Ebonyi State?
“Does this segregation foster an environment conducive to national unity?
“I question Orji Uzor Kalu, can these sets of political profiteers, prodigality masquerading at the corridor of power in Nigeria, cheap political ” Kitchen Slaves” to western power navigate the route of survival to Nigerians?
According to Igboayaka, Senator Kalu controversially rigged into the Senate, allegedly facilitated by INEC.
He claimed that ever since then, Senator Kalu had not convened a constituency briefing to feel the pulses of the people of Abia North.
Igboayaka emphasized that to be a representative of the people involved engaging them rather than rhetorics on camera.
He continued by saying Senator Kalu’ 8-year governorship was marked with corruption, ineptitude and reckless spending.
“Senator Orji Uzor Kalu’s assertion that he is a product of Nigeria is misleading.
“Regrettably, in 1999, pro-democracy, civil society organizations, technocrats who advocated for democratic governance in Nigeria were inactive when the military relinquished power, permitting individuals with questionable character and advance fee fraudsters(419ners) with significant illicit funds to capture power across Alaigbo, signaling the commencement of the second phase of the problems faced by Ndigbo following the 1967-70 genocide.
“Orji Uzor Kalu is a product of a corrupt system as allegedly linked to a 7.1b fraud case that could lead to perpetual imprisonment if Nigeria is not a failed State.
“Orji Uzor Kalu is a product of political extravagance and prodigality that allegedly squandered billions of Abia funds in 8 years as Governor,” Igboayaka added.
He accused Senator Kalu of complicity in the invasion of Afaraukwu Umuahia, Abia State by the Nigerian army troop.
This resulted to the killing of over 100 innocent civillians in an attempt to apprehend Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
According to him, those who oppose the dissolution of Nigeria are perceived as subservient to the British government.
He tagged them the ‘Kitchen Slave’ to the Northern political elite and said Senator Kalu exemplified the perceived subservience in Igbo land.
Igboayaka continued:
“During the transatlantic slave trade, there existed two categories of enslaved individuals: Kitchen Slaves and Field Slaves.
“Kitchen Slaves were those who worked within the master’s kitchen or food stores, while Field Slaves were primarily farmers or laborers in the fields.
“Interestingly, Kitchen Slaves, due to their proximity to the master’s kitchen, would occasionally gather crumbs from the master’s table and share leftover food with the master’s dogs, and often opposed any attempt by Slaves for freedom or liberation.
“This unique dynamic often led to tensions between Kitchen Slaves and Field Slaves, with the latter typically spearheading movements for freedom and liberation.
“Regrettably, in 2020, I headed a group of ten Igbo youths from the Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) from Southeast to Abuja on a visit to Orji Uzor Kalu at Kuje Prison.
“I pointed out to Orji Uzor Kalu that his incarceration was not solely a result of the 7.1 billion naira fraud allegations, but rather due to his Igbo background.
“If the imprisonment were solely based on fraud, the prisons in Nigeria would be overcrowded with political criminals from the 36 states.
“I encouraged Orji Uzor Kalu to remain hopeful, declaring that the persecution of Ndigbo in Nigeria would soon cease.
“Orji Uzor Kalu thanked our team and requested our continued support through future visits at Kuje prison.
“ I then prophetically objected and declared that our next visit would not take place at Kuje Prison, but rather at his residence, where we could outline a plan for a Nigerian president of Igbo extraction in 2023.
“It is noteworthy that Orji Uzor Kalu was released within a month of our visit.
“The council had sent him several letters concerning the Southeast Presidential Project, but he did not reply to any of them.
“We subsequently saw Orji Uzor Kalu with a plastic spoon dancing the dance of a ” Kitchen Slave” in support of Sen. Ahmed Lawal’s presidential project in 2022.
“Like the shortest verse in the bible Jesus wept, Orji Uzor Kalu wept similarly in 2023, after he was denied all principal positions in the Senate, including his aspiration for Senate President.
“Today Orji Uzor Kalu is swearing on a campaign cloth written “Bola Ahmed Tinubu for president” despite All Progressive Congress (APC) yet to conduct its primary election to select the party’s presidential candidate, or even when Bola Ahmed Tinubu is yet to inform Nigeria that he’s running a second term, is typically show of political slavery by Orji Uzor Kalu
“Orji Uzor Kalu must acknowledge that if political sycophancy could pave the way for an Igbo man to rise in national politics, Senator Rochas Anayo Ethelbert Okorocha (Owelle) should have become the President of Nigeria.
Igboayaka urged every Igbo ‘kichen slave’ like Senator Kalu to learn from history, to avoid the risk of returning to disappointment and shame.
According to him it is “very easy to use legs and walk across the Atlantic Ocean, but it’s a life threatening task and a risk to be an Igbo man in Nigeria.”
Igboayaka concluded by saying, “We will monitor the situation closely until Nigeria ultimately reaches a breaking point or loses total stability.
“Today Nigeria is already like a ship severely hit by a tornado.
