Opposition leader Adebayo Adewole has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s administration for prioritizing campaigns over effective governance.

He accused the president of behaving like a candidate, not the leader of over 200 million Nigerians, Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathers.

Adewole said the country faces hunger, insecurity, and economic hardship under Tinubu’s leadership.

He claimed Tinubu spends more time addressing APC members than solving the nation’s urgent issues.

He described the APC’s recent national summit as a disguised campaign rally.

Adewole said midterm reviews should focus on accountability and results, not self-praise or celebration.

He emphasized that true democracy requires leaders to acknowledge failures and present clear solutions.

He dismissed claims that the opposition’s weakness justifies APC’s poor performance.

“The government must perform whether the opposition is strong or weak,” he declared.

He defended opposition parties, stating that internal debates show engagement, not disunity.

“Politics should be based on ideas, not silence or uniformity,” he added.

Adewole insisted that any political alliance must be built on shared principles, not desperation to oust the APC.

“I won’t merge with anyone unless we share ideological values,” he said.

He accused the APC-led government of budget fraud and financial recklessness.

According to him, Nigeria’s budgets are now filled with illegal and suspicious insertions by lawmakers and ministers.

He warned that public funds are being treated like private assets by politicians.

Adewole reminded Nigerians that Tinubu once chaired the Senate Appropriations Committee.

“If these practices are happening under his watch, they must be intentional,” he said.

He criticized Tinubu’s recent remark suggesting one-party rule might be acceptable.

“That comment is dangerous and unfit for a democratic leader,” Adewole said.

He urged Tinubu to remember he governs for all Nigerians, not only APC loyalists.

Adewole, a farmer himself, said the economic crisis is devastating agriculture in rural areas.

He lamented that farming inputs now cost far more than most farmers can afford.

“There is no real support for farmers from this government,” he said.

He also condemned the culture of voters rewarding politicians for flashy campaigns and cash gifts.

“Leadership must be based on performance, not showmanship or spending,” Adewole concluded.

He called on Nigerians to hold leaders accountable and reject power-hungry politics.
