BAUCHI STATE, NIGERIA — A governorship aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party, Usman Adamu, has declared that the PDP remains the most dominant political force in Bauchi State despite recent defections and political realignments ahead of the 2027 elections.

Adamu made the declaration while addressing party supporters and stakeholders during a political gathering in Bauchi, where he expressed confidence in the strength and popularity of the PDP across the state.

The aspirant argued that the party still enjoys widespread grassroots support in both urban and rural communities despite efforts by rival parties to weaken its structure.

According to him, recent defections from the PDP would not significantly affect the party’s chances in future elections because the party’s foundation in Bauchi remains strong.

He maintained that many loyal party members and supporters have continued to stand firmly behind the PDP due to its long-standing political influence in the state.

Adamu also praised party leaders and supporters for sustaining internal unity amid growing political activities ahead of the 2027 governorship race.

The politician insisted that the PDP would emerge victorious in future elections if members remain united and focused on mobilization at the grassroots level.

Political observers note that Bauchi State remains one of the key battlegrounds in northern Nigerian politics, with major parties already positioning for the next election cycle.

The PDP currently holds significant political influence in the state, although opposition parties continue efforts to attract prominent members and strengthen their structures.

Adamu dismissed suggestions that recent defections could destabilize the PDP, arguing that political movements are common in Nigeria’s democratic environment.

He further stated that the party would continue engaging with communities and stakeholders to maintain voter confidence and political relevance.

The governorship aspirant also called on party members to avoid internal disputes capable of weakening the PDP ahead of the elections.

According to him, unity, discipline, and effective grassroots mobilization remain essential for the party’s success in 2027.

Supporters at the gathering reportedly expressed optimism about the PDP’s electoral chances and pledged continued loyalty to the party.

Political analysts say public declarations of party strength have become increasingly common as politicians seek to reassure supporters and project confidence ahead of major elections.

They also note that defections and coalition-building are likely to intensify across Nigeria as political actors reposition themselves before 2027.

The Bauchi political environment has already witnessed heightened consultations, alliance discussions, and strategic meetings among aspirants and party leaders.

Observers believe competition for the governorship ticket within major parties may become more intense as the election period draws closer.

Attention now shifts to how the PDP and opposition parties will manage internal politics and voter mobilization in the lead-up to the 2027 general elections.
