Peter Mbah Emerges New Chairman Progressive Governors Forum

Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has reportedly emerged as the new Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, replacing Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma.

The decision was said to have been reached during a closed-door meeting of governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress held in Abuja on Thursday night.

The development came only hours after Uzodimma represented APC governors at the submission of President Bola Tinubu’s presidential nomination and expression of interest forms in Abuja.

Sources familiar with the meeting said about 20 APC governors were present during the discussions, with governors from states including Ogun, Bayelsa and Enugu in attendance.

Mbah’s emergence is already being viewed as a major political shift within the ruling party, especially at a time when consultations and internal alignments ahead of the 2027 political season are gathering momentum.

While official details surrounding the leadership change were still unclear as of press time, party insiders said the move was aimed at repositioning the forum and strengthening cooperation among APC-controlled states.

The reported change in leadership has also sparked fresh conversations within political circles, particularly following earlier conflicting reports about Hope Uzodimma’s status as chairman of the forum.
