IBIZA, Spain — Police removed two disruptive passengers from a Ryanair flight after it landed in Ibiza following reports of disorderly behaviour that allegedly disrupted the journey from Dublin and left several passengers distressed.
The incident occurred on a flight from the Irish capital to the popular Spanish holiday destination on July 13, prompting cabin crew to request police assistance before the aircraft arrived.
According to a passenger on board the flight, concerns began before departure when two groups of travellers were seen behaving loudly at the departure gate, appearing to be under the influence of alcohol.
The passenger said the atmosphere became increasingly disruptive once the aircraft was airborne, with members of the groups allegedly continuing to drink, play loud music and ignore repeated warnings from the cabin crew.
She claimed several passengers became visibly uncomfortable during the flight, including one young woman who appeared distressed and another traveller who struggled with the persistent noise inside the cabin.
The passenger also alleged that some travellers engaged in inappropriate behaviour, further adding to the disruption and creating an uncomfortable environment for others on board.
She said one male passenger later directed unwanted comments toward her, prompting another passenger seated nearby to intervene before the situation escalated.
According to her account, she informed the individual that her husband was seated across the aisle and urged him to avoid any confrontation.
She said her husband, who was wearing headphones during the flight, was unaware of the exchange, preventing what she believed could have developed into a more serious incident.
The passenger also described scenes of people moving around the cabin and ignoring normal in-flight expectations, saying the overall atmosphere left many travellers anxious before the aircraft reached its destination.
After the aircraft landed at Ibiza Airport, passengers were instructed to remain seated while emergency responders and police boarded the aircraft.
The passenger said paramedics assisted one individual from the flight, while police escorted two passengers away following the reported disturbance.
In a statement, Ryanair confirmed that cabin crew had requested police assistance after two passengers became disruptive during the flight.
The airline said crew members stopped serving alcohol to the individuals because of their behaviour but alleged that they continued consuming alcohol they had brought on board before departure.
Ryanair said police met the aircraft upon arrival in Ibiza and removed the disruptive passengers without further incident.
The airline reiterated that it maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward disruptive passenger behaviour and said it would continue taking action against misconduct that threatens the safety, comfort or wellbeing of passengers and crew.
Airlines across Europe have reported a rise in disruptive passenger incidents in recent years, with alcohol consumption frequently identified as a contributing factor.
Aviation authorities continue to encourage passengers to follow crew instructions throughout flights, warning that disorderly conduct can result in police action, fines, travel bans or prosecution under applicable laws.
