A 37-year-old Texas woman, Holly Leeann Flores, has been arrested after allegedly stabbing her husband and their two young children, a three-year-old girl and a 10-month-old boy, inside their Northlake home.
According to police, officers were called to the residence in the early hours of Tuesday, October 6, after Flores’ 34-year-old husband contacted emergency services and reported that his wife had stabbed him.
When officers arrived, they found the man with a stab wound to his head. During a search of the house, authorities discovered the two children with stab wounds to their chests.
The husband reportedly tried to reach the children and move them to safety while Flores allegedly continued attacking him with a knife, according to details released by investigators. He was forced to retreat outside as the situation unfolded.
The three victims were taken to hospital for treatment. Northlake Police Chief Robert Crawford said he believed the children’s injuries were not life-threatening and expected them to survive.
Flores was also taken to a hospital after sustaining a cut to her chest. She was treated and released before being transferred to Denton County Jail.
She faces two charges of attempted capital murder involving children under the age of 10 and one charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The charges remain allegations, and the investigation is ongoing.
The case has raised further questions after authorities disclosed that police had responded to the family’s residence approximately five times since March. Chief Crawford said most of the earlier calls involved welfare concerns but did not provide additional details about those incidents.
Investigators have not publicly established a motive for the alleged attack, and authorities have not confirmed whether Flores attempted to harm herself.
The incident has drawn attention because of the young ages of the children involved and the circumstances described by police. Authorities have urged patience as detectives continue investigating what happened inside the home.
As of the latest reports, the husband and both children were expected to survive, while Flores remained in custody as the case proceeded.
