President Bola Tinubu has nominated six executive directors for the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), forwarding their names to the Senate for confirmation.
The nominees include three serving executive directors seeking reappointment and three new candidates, according to Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy.
The three nominees being reappointed are Abiodun Adeniji, Executive Director of Finance and Accounts; Ogbugo Kalu Ukoha, Executive Director of Distribution Systems, Storage and Retailing Infrastructure; and Mustapha Lamorde, Executive Director of Health, Safety, Environment and Community.
The new nominees are Mobolaji Tajudeen Musa, proposed for the position of Executive Director of Hydrocarbon Processing Plants, Installations and Transportation Infrastructure; Ogechukwu Modie, nominated as Executive Director of Economic Regulations and Strategic Planning; and Said Abutalib, nominated as Executive Director of Corporate Services and Administration.
If confirmed by the Senate, all six nominees will serve five-year terms.
Onanuga said Tinubu had urged the Senate to consider the nominations expeditiously to ensure continuity within the authority and strengthen its regulatory oversight.
The President also approved the appointment of Jumoke Gafar as Secretary to the Board/Authority and Legal Adviser.
The appointment is subject to the completion of statutory procedures under Section 46 of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).
In a related development, Tinubu appointed Rabiu Abdullahi Umar as the NMDPRA chief executive in April.
The latest nominations are part of the appointments shaping the leadership structure of the agency responsible for regulating Nigeria’s midstream and downstream petroleum sectors.
