President Bola Tinubu has welcomed the World Bank Group’s plan to mobilise up to $5.79 billion in private financing for Nigeria, describing the initiative as support for efforts to expand businesses and attract investment.
Tinubu disclosed this in a post on his X handle on Friday, October 16, saying the partnership would support investment in agriculture and digital infrastructure.
The President also revealed that his administration had assembled a pipeline of 65 bankable projects seeking $78.5 billion in investment.
He said Finance Minister and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, presented the investment opportunities alongside Central Bank of Nigeria Governor Olayemi Cardoso at the Nigeria Investors Forum, held on the sidelines of the 2026 IMF–World Bank Annual Meetings in Bangkok.
According to Tinubu, the government’s economic reforms were designed to establish a stronger foundation for investment and expand opportunities for Nigerians to earn a better living.
He encouraged local and international investors to explore the projects through Projects Nigeria and engage directly with their sponsors.
The President also pledged that his administration would work with investors to address obstacles and move viable projects towards implementation.
He said the investments could help create jobs and expand economic opportunities across the country.
