Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has said she hopes to leave the Presidential Villa in 2031 and enjoy a Nigeria where travelling is more convenient, particularly for older citizens.
She made the remarks on Saturday, October 24, 2026, while inaugurating the Abuja campaign headquarters of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, a grassroots group mobilising support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
“I want to leave Aso Rock, in 2031, by the grace of God, and enter a Nigeria that I, as a 70-something-year-old woman, will enjoy,” she said.
Mrs Tinubu expressed optimism about changes at the country’s airports, saying she looked forward to being able to travel more quickly and conveniently.
“I want to get to the airport. I want to travel, you know, so quickly. And you can see our airports too are changing,” she added.
At the event, the First Lady formally commissioned the movement’s Abuja campaign headquarters, dedicating the facility to President Tinubu’s anticipated victory in the 2027 presidential election.
“So to the glory of God, and for the victory of Mr President come 2027, I hereby formally commission the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement campaign headquarters, Abuja,” she said.
Mrs Tinubu also declared her support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, who convened the movement.
Her remarks come as political groups mobilise support ahead of the 2027 general election, with the movement seeking to strengthen grassroots backing for the President’s re-election bid.
