Traditional Woman Blasts Feminism, Sparks Debate Over Gender Roles (VIDEO)

A woman advocating traditional family values has sparked debate online after criticising feminism and accusing the movement of changing women’s attitudes towards marriage, domestic responsibilities and relationships with men.

In a statement circulating on social media, the woman argued that feminist ideas have influenced a growing number of women to reject traditional expectations, including cooking, washing and having children.

“Feminism has destroyed our generation; it has gotten into their head. Women are now refusing to give birth, to cook, to wash. Women are now standing up to men and telling them, ‘How dare you talk to me like that?’” she said.

She described these changes as a departure from traditional cultural values, arguing that ideas originating outside local communities have encouraged women to challenge established gender roles.

“All these are not part of our culture. We’ve imported demonic ideas. You feminists have to come back to your senses. What equal rights are you fighting for?” she added.

Her remarks have drawn attention to the continuing debate over feminism, cultural identity and the expectations placed on women within African households.

Supporters of traditional family structures often argue that cooking, cleaning, raising children and caring for family members are important responsibilities that help maintain stable homes. Some believe that changing attitudes towards these duties could create tension in marriages, particularly where couples disagree about their respective roles.

However, critics of the woman’s position argue that domestic responsibilities should not automatically fall on women and that challenging disrespectful treatment is not a rejection of culture. They maintain that women should be able to decide whether to marry, have children or pursue careers without being pressured to follow a single model of womanhood.

Feminism generally advocates equality between women and men, although people who identify with the movement hold different views on marriage, parenting, household duties and cultural traditions. Many feminists support marriage, motherhood and family life while arguing that these should be matters of personal choice rather than compulsory expectations.

The controversy also raises questions about how culture evolves and whether traditions should remain unchanged as social and economic circumstances shift. While some people view traditional gender roles as essential to family stability, others believe healthy relationships require shared responsibilities, mutual respect and the freedom for couples to decide what works for them.

The woman’s comments have added another voice to an ongoing conversation about feminism and traditional values, with reactions likely to reflect differing beliefs about gender, family life and the meaning of equality.
