Transcorp CEOs Honoured at BusinessDay Awards

The President and Group Chief Executive Officer of Transnational Corporation Plc, Owen Omogiafo, and the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Transcorp Power Plc, Peter Ikenga, have been recognised at the 2026 BusinessDay Top 25 CEOs Awards.

The executives received the recognition at a ceremony held in Lagos, where leading chief executives of companies listed on the Nigerian Exchange were honoured for leadership performance, corporate governance and value creation. (Transcorp)

The recognition places two senior executives from the Transcorp Group among business leaders acknowledged for their contributions to corporate growth and performance in Nigeria.

Transcorp Group operates across the power, hospitality and energy sectors, with Transcorp Power Plc and TransAfam Power Limited forming the Group’s major power businesses.

Together, the two power businesses have a combined installed electricity generation capacity of about 2,000 megawatts, making Transcorp one of the major players in Nigeria’s power generation industry. (Transcorp)

The recognition also comes after a strong financial performance by the Group in its 2025 financial year.

Transcorp Group recorded revenue of ₦544 billion in 2025, compared with ₦408 billion in 2024, representing a 33 per cent increase.

Its profit before tax also increased by 31 per cent to ₦179.5 billion during the year.

Transcorp Power equally recorded growth during the period, with revenue rising to ₦398.27 billion from ₦305.94 billion in 2024.

The company’s profit before tax increased by 14 per cent to ₦162.44 billion, compared with ₦142.21 billion recorded in the previous year. (Transcorp)

Speaking on the recognition, Omogiafo credited the achievement to the collective efforts of employees across the Group.

He said Transcorp remains focused on improving lives, transforming Africa, investing in critical infrastructure and creating long-term value for its stakeholders.

Ikenga also attributed the recognition to the efforts of the board and employees of Transcorp Power, noting that the company would continue to focus on plant reliability, capacity expansion and operational discipline. Transcorp

The awards come as Nigeria’s power sector continues to face challenges including gas supply constraints, foreign exchange volatility and liquidity pressures across the electricity value chain.

Despite these challenges, Transcorp has continued to invest in its power businesses while pursuing opportunities to expand its presence across the energy and hospitality sectors.

The BusinessDay Top 25 CEOs Awards provide recognition for executives leading companies quoted on the Nigerian Exchange, with leadership, corporate governance and value creation forming part of the assessment.

For Transcorp, the recognition of both Omogiafo and Ikenga highlights the leadership of the Group and its power subsidiary at a time when the company continues to expand its investments and strengthen its position in Nigeria’s corporate and energy sectors.
