Troops of 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army foiled a planned attack by suspected terrorists in Charanchi LGA of Katsina state.
Quoting security sources, Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert said the operation followed a distress call received at about 11:20am on August 9.
Makama said sources reported the convergence of suspected terrorists around Kaddanya village.
It said troops deployed from forward operating base (FOB) Radda swiftly responded to the call and mobilised to the location.
Makama said the troops collaborated with personnel of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) from Kankia and Charanchi and the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC) to thwart the attack.
Makama added that the troops dominated the general area through aggressive patrols to deny the terrorists freedom of action following the operation.
