United States President Donald Trump has sparked fresh political reactions after reposting a satirical video mocking British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on his social media platform, Truth Social.
The video, originally aired as part of the UK debut of Saturday Night Live UK, portrays a fictional and anxious version of Starmer nervously attempting to avoid a phone call from Trump.
In the skit, comedian George Fouracres plays Starmer inside 10 Downing Street, expressing fear about speaking with the American leader.
The character is shown turning to a parody of Foreign Secretary David Lammy for reassurance, asking: “What if Donald shouts at me?”
When the fictional Trump calls, Starmer immediately hangs up, describing him as a “scary, scary, wonderful president.”
The sketch humorously references tensions over the ongoing Middle East conflict, with dialogue suggesting Britain’s reluctance to send additional naval support to the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump reposted the clip without commentary, but the move comes amid increasing criticism of Starmer from the U.S. president over the UK’s stance in the escalating conflict involving Iran.
In recent remarks, Trump has openly questioned Starmer’s leadership, saying, “This is not Winston Churchill that we’re dealing with,” and accusing him of failing to provide sufficient support to U.S. military efforts.
The criticism follows an earlier decision by the UK government to initially decline allowing U.S. warplanes to use British bases for strikes on Iran a stance that reportedly strained relations between the two allies.
Despite the sharp rhetoric, Trump has offered mixed remarks about the British leader, describing him as “a nice man” while expressing disappointment in his decisions.
The exchange highlights growing diplomatic friction between Washington and London as the Middle East conflict intensifies, with disagreements emerging over military strategy and burden-sharing among Western allies.
