Whistleblowers Ask Pipeline Surveillance Contractors To Account For Loss, Oil Theft [Updated]

The George Uboh Whistleblowers Network (GUWN) has issued issues pipeline surveillance contractors a 14-day pre-action notice to give account of their stewardship to the federal government.

GUWN’s action is prompted by reports that the contractors are at each other’s neck fighting for dominance.

GUWN asked the contractors to unravel the losses, oil theft, and other related things in the execution of said contracts awarded by trhe Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation [NNPC].

The affected contractors are Ocean Marine Solutions Limited, Captain Hosa Okunbo, Chairman and Shoreline Natural Resources, Mr. Kola Karim, Chairman.

GUWN chairman, Dr. George Uboh addressed the two letters to the Chairman, Shoreline Natural Resources Ltd., Mr Karim Kola, Chairman and chairman of Ocean Marine Solutions Ltd., Capt. (Dr.) Idahosa Wells Okunbo.

He lamented that “there currently exists a litany of media accusations regarding the protection of pipeline, NNPC contract to protect same, possible loss of revenue to the FGN, possible collusion in crude oil theft, among others.”

He said that the public is interested in knowing the truth hence the involvement of GUWN-CSO whose duty it is to protect the public.

He, therefore, requested that Ocean Marine Solutions Ltd. (Capt. Hosa Okunbo) and Eraskorp Group/Shoreline Natural Resources Ltd. (Mr. Kola Karim) furnish “any and all documents germane to award of contract by NNPC to protect pipelines anywhere in Nigeria, report on any crude oil theft during the pendency of such contract, the actual crude transported during the pendency of such contract, amount received from the government for execution of such contract, amount owed by the government in the execution of such contract, and any information necessary to resolve this matter.”

Besides Mr. Karim and Capt. Okunbo, the letter was also copied to Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, Hon. Min. of State Petroleum, Dr. Maikanti Baru, GMD, NNPC and  Alh. Yusuf Matashi, MD, NPDC.
