Hollywood filmmaker, Mr. Tyler Perry has said he has no plans to get married
He cited what he described as the “divorce pandemic” as reason for his decision.
The 57-year-old actor, who has never been married, spoke about his decision during a recent appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show.
Perry, who shares Aman, an 11-year-old boy with Gelila Bekele, said his decision is not due to a lack of love but a desire to protect what he has built.
He pointed to the financial and legal consequences of divorce as a major factor.
Perry also said getting older has changed his priorities, adding that he wants to spend more time with his son and enjoy life.
“I’m never marrying. And it’s actually the divorce pandemic that is happening. Everybody that I know that is doing well went broke because of divorce,” he said.
“It’s time to slow down a bit, enjoy more time with my son and just take it all in.”
In 2020, Perry had also opened up about experiencing a midlife crisis, describing himself as single and uncertain about what the next chapter of his life would look like.
“This is what a midlife crisis looks like. I’m 51, single, and wondering what the next chapter in my life will look like. Whatever it looks like I’m going to walk with God, be the best father and man I can be,” he wrote at the time.
