Suspected bandits attacked Yankamaye village in Kano State’s Tsanyawa Local Government Area late Saturday night, killing an elderly woman and abducting three people.
The assault, which occurred while residents were asleep, has left the community shaken.
Police spokesperson Abdullahi Kiyawa confirmed the incident, saying officers are pursuing the attackers and working to rescue the kidnapped victims.
“We are doing everything possible to restore calm to the area,” he said.
Eyewitnesses described the bandits arriving on motorcycles, which they abandoned on the outskirts to approach quietly.
One resident, speaking anonymously, recalled the tragic killing of the elderly woman, who pleaded for her son’s safety before being shot. “It was heartbreaking,” he said.
