Two Chinese nationals were on Monday abducted on a mining site in Zango City, located on the outskirts of Lokoja, Kogi State.

NewsBand gathered that over 20 gunmen who raided the site killed three vigilante members and two mining staff before abducting the Chinese nationals.

The raid lasted about 45 minutes, with sporadic gunfire coming from a hilly area behind Al Azhar International School.

The attackers, described as bearded and heavily armed, caused widespread panic among locals, prompting many to close their shops and scampered for safety.

A local hunter, who doesn’t want to be quoted, reported participating in evacuating the bodies of the deceased vigilantes—identified as Abdulazeez, Tijani, and Yusuf.

Police authorities in the State are yet to issue a statement in respect to the unfortunate incident.
