Two young men’s bodies were discovered along First Gate in Iba, LASU-Igando Road, Lagos State, on Tuesday, September 9, 2025.
Residents found the lifeless bodies with nylon bags over their heads, fastened tightly with ropes around their necks, and their hands tied behind their backs.
The victims were shirtless and showed signs of brutal beating, with raw weals on their bodies, before being dumped near the canal.
The Lagos State Police Command has launched an investigation into the gruesome killing.
According to DSP Babaseyi B. Oluseyi, the police spokesperson, the bodies were too clean, suggesting they were killed elsewhere and dumped at the scene.
The police are working to unravel the circumstances surrounding the deaths and bring the perpetrators to justice.
While the exact motive is still unclear, the incident has raised concerns about rising cult-related violence in the state.
The police are exploring various leads, including potential links to organized crime or ritual killings, as hinted by some residents who described the scene as chilling.
The police will continue to investigate and gather evidence to identify the perpetrators and determine the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
The community is awaiting official confirmation and further updates on the investigation.
