2 officers killed as gunmen attack police checkpoint in Anambra

Two police operatives have been killed after gunmen launched vicious attack on a police checkpoint at Omata Junction, Ichi, in Ekwusigo local government area of Anambra State.

Newsband gathered that the attack, which happened around 8:30am, involved the use of explosive device which resulted in the unfortunate deaths of two gallant officers.

Another officer was seriously injured in the attack

The criminal elements according to witnesses targeted a police operational van stationed at Omata junction with the explosive device.

Also, three civilians were caught in the blast and have been rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, police authorities in the state are yet to issue a statement in respect to the development.
