The Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, revealed that the federal government plans to enhance and rehabilitate current infrastructure.
They will focus on Nigeria’s universities for the 2025 budget.
During an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Alausa highlighted how committed the government is to fixing deteriorating facilities.
He stated, “One priority area we are going to do is fix these infrastructures, rehabilitate, improve, and get them to a very high standard.
He emphasized that the 2025 budget will direct funds from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) toward upgrading existing facilities.
Enough of building new structures.
Alausa mentioned that these funds will specifically target the repair and restoration of hostels, lecture theatres, and auditoriums.
They will also focus on laboratories, classrooms, and administrative offices in higher education.
In the 2025 budgetary allocation to TETFUND, higher institutions will use their funds to improve existing infrastructures.
They will repair and rehabilitate hostels, lecture theaters, auditoriums, laboratories, classes, and offices.
That’s what the intervention funds will be spent on,” he further added.
