The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has raised the alarm over a fake list of alleged state chairmen circulating online.

In a statement released Thursday, July 10, 2025, the party disowned the viral document, describing it as false and misleading.

Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC’s National Publicity Secretary and spokesperson for the opposition coalition, signed the statement.

He clarified that the ADC had not announced any new appointments of state chairmen and warned Nigerians against falling for online fraud.

“The African Democratic Congress (ADC) wishes to make it known to the public that the party is not aware of any appointment of State Chairmen as being circulated on the social media space,” the statement read.

The fake list appeared on a verified X (formerly Twitter) handle, claiming ADC had appointed chairpersons in all 36 states and the FCT.

It also urged individuals to revalidate their membership cards through state offices, causing confusion among party faithful.

Abdullahi urged Nigerians to verify any ADC-related information on his official X handle, @BolajiADC, to avoid being misled.

“Any information that does not emanate from the party’s official platforms or is not verified via the X page of the National Publicity Secretary should be disregarded,” he said.

He further warned the public about fraudulent online platforms requesting payments for registration into the party.

Abdullahi described such actions as criminal and designed to exploit the party’s growing popularity.

“The party also dismissed and condemned in strong terms the information that some persons have set up fictitious online platforms to swindle unsuspecting Nigerians of their hard-earned money under the guise of registering them to the party,” the statement read.
