Former Anambra State Governor and 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has warned electoral officials that they will face consequences if they fail to count votes properly in the 2027 elections.
While speaking in Akwa Ibom State, Obi stressed the importance of voter participation and electoral accountability, stating: “In the upcoming election in 2027, anybody who refuses to count our vote, we will count the person join. Anybody who refused to count our votes in 2027, we will count him”.
Obi’s warning comes after his experience in the 2023 presidential election, where his campaign focused on transparency and accountability.
He left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) due to disagreements over the nomination process and later joined the Labour Party, then the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in December 2025.
The event concluded with calls for citizens and political actors to support a credible and peaceful electoral process in 2027.
