The Minister of Education, Dr Olatunji Alausa, has pledged to mobilise 10 million votes from Nigeria’s education sector for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in the 2027 presidential election.
Alausa made the pledge at the inaugural meeting of the APC Presidential Campaign Committee Education Sector Mobilisation Working Group.
He urged members to take the campaign beyond schools and other educational institutions and engage communities across the country.
According to the minister, the education sector, with its large network of students, teachers, lecturers, administrators, governing councils and professional bodies, could provide a significant bloc of votes for Tinubu.
“Nigeria needs continuity. This country, this President, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has changed the fortunes of Nigeria,” Alausa said.
He argued that a second term would allow the administration to consolidate its reforms, strengthen the economy, attract investment and create more opportunities for Nigerians.
“If we work hard, we should be able to mobilise 10 million votes from the education sector alone for Mr President,” he said.
Alausa said achieving the target would require coordinated efforts and sustained engagement with stakeholders across the sector.
The working group has created sub-groups covering universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, teachers, governing councils, TVET, counsellors and other education stakeholders.
Alausa, who chairs the working group, also reaffirmed his commitment to Tinubu’s re-election campaign, saying he would personally drive the mobilisation effort across the education sector.
