Rights activist Deji Adeyanju has urged Omoyele Sowore, publisher of Sahara Reporters and former presidential candidate, to join the emerging opposition coalition ahead of the 2027 general election.

Adeyanju made the appeal in an open message on social media.

He invited Sowore to join the coalition, emphasizing the potential for meaningful change.

He stressed that politics requires flexibility and strategic alliances, differing from activism and morality.

Adeyanju urged Sowore to ignore potential criticism, citing his established reputation for integrity and activism.

“Dear Egbon @YeleSowore, I know you are different and unlike the thieving Nigerian politicians but please consider joining the coalition sir,” Adeyanju wrote.

“Forget about what will people say about your long-lasting principles and ideological values, etc. Extraordinary circumstances call for extraordinary measures. You will earn the permanent respect and admiration of all Nigerians if you make such a painful sacrifice,” he added.

He described politics as a game defined by numbers rather than moral or ideological purity.

Adeyanju suggested that imperfections in coalitions should not deter meaningful participation.

Meanwhile, the appeal comes amid growing conversations about a grand opposition alliance aimed at unseating the ruling party in the next election cycle.
