2027: Igbo group endorses Tinubu’s re-election bid

A South East group has urged Ndigbo to rally behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election.
The group, South East Progressive Ambassadors (SEPA), said the zone must not repeat past political miscalculations. It warned that ignoring Tinubu’s re-election would leave the South East behind again.
In a press statement signed by its convener, John CDO Ikeotuonye, and secretary, Dr Justin Ogoo Nwankwo, SEPA said the message of the Renewed Hope Agenda is now resonating across the region.
“The South East now understands the importance of alliance-building rather than opposition,” SEPA stated.
The group said 2027 offers a chance for the South East to secure its rightful place in Nigeria’s political framework. It urged Igbos to fully embrace Tinubu’s political vision.
“The best choice for Ndi-Igbo is to key into the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” it said.
SEPA praised Tinubu’s efforts to promote transparency at the local government level, and his stance on mismanagement of state funds.
“He’s confronting real issues—fund diversion, fund delay, and poor local governance,” SEPA emphasized.
The group called on young professionals in the region to stop relying on “backroom politics” and instead join the national political conversation.
“We must build bridges and unite as one South East voice,” SEPA declared.
It noted that President Tinubu has made visible efforts to engage the region, including:
Establishment of the South East Development Commission (SEDC)
Appointment of a Special Adviser on Community Liaison for the region
Key political appointments to Southeast indigenes
Official visits to all Southeast states
SEPA said these actions prove that Tinubu is serious about addressing Southeast marginalization and promoting regional development.
“The President has the will and capacity to restructure Nigeria and lift it from failure,” the group said.
It warned that the South East must not be caught unprepared in 2027.
“We must strategically align with President Tinubu for the sake of political reintegration and national relevance.”
SEPA’s position signals a shifting political tone in the Southeast as 2027 draws closer. The group vowed to mobilize support from progressive-minded youths to ensure the region is not left out again.
