2027: I’ll Be In PDP, Work For Coalition – Lamido

PDP chieftain Sule Lamido has confirmed he will support the ADC coalition in 2027 while retaining his PDP membership mirroring Wike’s political strategy.
A Bold Political Shift
Former Jigawa State governor and PDP founding member, Sule Lamido, says Nigeria’s future depends on bold decisions. He recently declared that while he will not leave the PDP, he is fully committed to supporting the ADC coalition in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
Lamido explained that his loyalty lies with the people, not just a political platform. He emphasized that Nigeria needs leaders who are ready to fix national problems, regardless of party labels.
Following Wike’s Footsteps
Lamido compared his new stance to that of Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Wike remains in the PDP but supports the ruling APC. Lamido believes such flexibility may help reshape Nigeria’s politics for the better.
Two weeks ago, he and other concerned PDP leaders attended a key meeting in Abuja. The aim was to form a united front ahead of the 2027 election. Following that meeting, the ADC was unveiled as the official coalition platform to challenge President Tinubu.
This move has already divided PDP members. While some, like Lamido, lean toward the ADC, others remain loyal to Tinubu and the APC.
A Focus on Unity and Leadership
In an interview with BBC Hausa, Lamido criticized the disunity and selfishness in many political parties. He stated that political reforms must go beyond party loyalty.
“I will stay in PDP, but I’ll support a credible candidate. Nigeria needs true leaders, not just politicians,” he said.
Lamido believes the PDP’s internal problems were caused by hypocrisy and weak leadership. Despite this, he pledged to remain and help rebuild the party.
His support for the Lamido PDP ADC Coalition 2027 reflects his desire to unite the opposition and bring lasting change.
