The leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has cautioned the presidential candidate of the NDC, Peter Obi, to be wary of his political alliance with Rabiu Kwankwaso, claiming it could undermine his chances in the 2027 presidential election.
In a statement issued by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, the cleric alleged that Obi was surrounded by individuals whose interests may not align with his political ambitions.
Ayodele claimed that the former Anambra State governor had ignored several warnings and was placing too much trust in people who may not be fully committed to his success.
According to him, Kwankwaso’s involvement in Obi’s political calculations could eventually become a major setback.
“Peter Obi does not listen to divine instructions, and because of that, he has found himself in the wrong hands regarding his ambition. Kwankwaso is not prepared to fight for him and will eventually put his own interests first,” Ayodele said.
The cleric further alleged that Kwankwaso’s political moves were driven primarily by personal considerations rather than a commitment to Obi’s presidential project.
He maintained that while he admired Obi’s courage and political determination, he believed the former governor was not yet prepared for the nation’s highest office.
“I do not hate Peter Obi. I admire his courage and determination, but I believe he is not yet mature enough for the position he seeks,” he added.
Ayodele also predicted that the true nature of Kwankwaso’s political intentions would become clear in the future, though he warned that Obi might realise it too late.
“Kwankwaso’s plans will eventually come to light, but by then, Peter Obi may have gone too far down the road to reverse the situation,” he stated.
The comments come amid ongoing political realignments and speculation over possible alliances ahead of the 2027 general election.
