Barrister Nysom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has declared that the 2027 presidential election is as good as concluded, adding that a expanding “rainbow coalition” will soon emerge to secure President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election.
While speaking to newsmen during an inspection exercise in Abuja, Wike addressed Governor Ademola Adeleke’s recent visit, framing it as part of a broader cross-party realignment behind the president.
Wike dismissed claims by rival factions regarding the governor’s platform strategy, noting that while Adeleke ran on the Accord Party platform due to internal wranglings within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), he remains deeply rooted in the PDP structure and is now fully committed to supporting President Tinubu ahead of 2027.
The former governor of Rivers State stressed that internal crises have effectively dismantled major opposition parties, leaving no cohesive force to challenge the current administration.
While pointing to opposition heavyweights like Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, the Minister said that his strategy is to keep political rivals like them off-balance, adding that their discomfort over these political realignments gives him no concern.
Wike maintained that the coming weeks will reveal even further realignments from diverse political figures across the country, reinforcing his stance that the 2027 contest is already settled in favor of the expanding national coalition.
He added that the 2027 presidential election is as good as concluded, asserting that there is no longer a formidable opposition in Nigeria’s political landscape that are strong enough to challenge the president.
Wike insisted that internal crises have rendered major opposition parties ineffective, leaving no cohesive force to challenge the current administration.
”Key political figures across party lines including Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke are aligning behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu under a expanding “rainbow coalition.”
”Adeleke ran on the Accord Party platform due to internal wranglings within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He remains deeply rooted in the PDP structure and is now fully committed to supporting the president ahead of 2027″, Wike added.
