2027: Peter Obi Unsure of Securing ADC Presidential Ticket

Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has expressed uncertainty over his chances of clinching the presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a video message to his supporters, Obi said there is no guarantee that the party will hand him its ticket, stressing that his involvement in the political movement is driven more by purpose than personal ambition.
“I cannot be certain,” he said, responding to questions about his chances. “What matters is that we are committed to a cause.”
The former Labour Party presidential candidate also reaffirmed his commitment to his political goals despite reported threats and uncertainties surrounding opposition politics in Nigeria.
Obi praised his supporters for their loyalty and sacrifices, acknowledging the challenges of remaining in the opposition without immediate rewards.
“It’s not easy to be in the opposition in Nigeria, and I’m thankful to those who keep supporting even when there’s no clear reward,” he added.
However, he raised concerns about the reliability of political alliances, questioning whether current partners would remain committed in the long term.
Obi’s remarks come amid ongoing discussions within the ADC and other political blocs over strategies and potential candidates for the 2027 presidential election.
