Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has pledged the full support of the state for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections, promising to deliver 2.5 million votes.

Speaking over the weekend at the APC senatorial by-election campaign rally in Ugboha Ward 10, Esan South East Local Government Area, the governor said Tinubu has demonstrated exceptional love for Edo State and deserves a second term.

“President Tinubu has taken Edo as his home. He has shown us love, and we must support him in return. Come 2027, let us give him our votes as a mark of gratitude. Remember we promised him 2.5 million votes.

So, I see the August 16 senatorial by-election as a test,” Okpebholo declared.

The governor was accompanied by several APC leaders and received fresh defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), describing their move as proof of the ruling party’s growing influence in Edo Central.

Okpebholo credited the president for supporting numerous infrastructural projects in the state and promised to speed up key community projects.

Responding to local demands, he vowed to fast-track the Ugboha–Ubiaja road before the upcoming election and begin construction of the Ugboha–Anegbete road.

He also highlighted his administration’s revival of the Ugboha water scheme, which he said fulfilled a major campaign promise.

“When I came for my campaign, you told me you wanted me to revive the Ugboha water scheme  today, have I not done that? You also asked for the road from here to Ubiaja. I promise that before the election, we will fast-track it.

And I will also construct the road from here to Anegbete because I remember when we were children, we used to go through here to Anegbete,” the governor said.

The rally drew a large turnout of party supporters and stakeholders who urged voters to back APC candidate Hon. Joseph Ikpea in the August 16 senatorial by-election, promising more democratic dividends if the party retains the seat.
