21-yr-old female student found dead in refuse dump

Mojisola Awesu, a 21 year old student of Kwara State College of Health Technology, Offa, has been found dead in what authorities suspect to be a ritual killing in Ilorin, the capital of the State.

The victim was reportedly declared missing since August 9, 2024. Her body was later discovered on August 12 at a refuse dump site in the Aleniboro area.

The gory discovery was made by a local resident identified as Mr. Olorunoje, who raised the alarm after finding her remains on his way back from the mosque.

According to reports, the victim received a phone call on August 9 from a woman named Timileyin, who informed her about an event being organized by students of Summit University, Offa, and Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin.

Timileyin introduced Mojisola to a man identified as Adebayo Happiness, a student of Summit University, who invited her to a night party.

He allegedly offered her a sum of N15,000 to act as his girlfriend at the event.

On getting to the venue of the said party, Mojisola who reportedly reached out to her roommate, Blessing, explained to her how uneasy she felt at the hotel where Adebayo had lodged her, particularly after discovering that there was no party as promised.

Shortly after this communication, her phone was switched off, and all subsequent attempts by Blessing to reach her were unsuccessful.

Meanwhile, police authorities in Kwara State have confirmed the recovery of Mojisola’s body.

The police spokesman, Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, announced that several suspects have been arrested in connection with the case and the investigation has been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further scrutiny.
