The body of 23-year-old Elizabeth Awhobiwom Ukah, a student of the Federal Nursing Science College, has been discovered partially naked in a drainage channel in Calabar, Cross River State.
Her lifeless body was found early Saturday morning, April 19, 2025, along Musaha Umoh Okon Street in the Ekpo Abasi area of Calabar South Local Government Area, Cross River State.
Initially unidentified, concerned residents alerted authorities after spotting the body facedown.
Upon arrival, police officers turned the body over and began investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.
Investigative journalist Agba Jalingo, in a Facebook post on Wednesday, April 23 identified the deceased as Ukah.
He speculated that Elizabeth might have been swept away by floodwaters while returning home after attending Good Friday mass and participating in the Stations of the Cross at Holy Family Catholic Church, Big-Qua Town, near Marian Market.
He had no explanation for why the deceased had only panties on.
Elizabeth Ukah hailed from the Ohong community in Obudu Local Government Area of the state.
