27 victims of deadly bandits’ attack in Plateau set for mass burial

Published

on

A Plateau community is set to hold a mass burial for 27 victims, including women and children, who were killed in a brutal attack by suspected bandits in Riyom Local Government Area last Tuesday night.

The victims’ bodies, which were taken to a nearby hospital for identification and post-mortem procedures, are now being returned to their community for burial rites.

Traditional leaders, local residents, and humanitarian agencies have gathered to oversee the burial arrangements and offer support to the bereaved families.

The mood in Riyom is tensed, with families bracing for the arrival of their loved ones’ remains.

The attack is part of a larger pattern of violence in Plateau State, where clashes between farmers and herders have led to significant loss of life and displacement.

Similar incidents have occurred in the past, with mass burials being held for victims of bandit attacks in the region.

While there is no specific information on the government’s response to this particular incident, previous attacks have prompted condemnation and calls for action from state officials and community leaders.
