5 Nigerian Universities Offering Admission Without JAMB

Published

on

Each year, thousands of Nigerian students hit a wall trying to gain university admission through JAMB UTME.

Some fail to meet cut-off marks, while others pass but still miss out.

For many, the wait brings frustration and uncertainty. But now, several NUC-approved universities are offering a new path no JAMB UTME required.

These five institutions now allow students to begin their studies with only O’Level results.

Their focus is flexibility, accessibility, and real-world career relevance.

1. Miva Open University

Miva Open University is Nigeria’s first private open university. It offers direct admission with just five O’Level credits, including Maths and English.

Students study online through videos, PDFs, and a custom learning platform.

Miva’s tuition starts at ₦150,000 per semester, with no extra charges. Its flexible format suits working students or those living in remote areas.

Courses include business, tech, and management all designed for job readiness.

2. National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN)

NOUN remains Nigeria’s largest open and distance learning institution. It does not require JAMB.

Instead, candidates must meet basic O’Level entry standards. NOUN’s self-paced learning allows students to study anytime, anywhere. Its nationwide network makes it easy to access even in rural areas.

3. Iconic Open University

Iconic Open University offers a tech-driven, flexible learning approach. Admission requires valid O’Level results only.

Students enjoy a personalised learning experience and avoid traditional campus restrictions.

The school is ideal for students who want a modern and independent academic journey.

4. West Midlands Open University, Ibadan

This online university is fully licensed by the NUC. It offers admission without UTME.

Students must meet O’Level requirements and apply through an internal process. Its remote learning system supports timely graduation and self-paced study.

5. Al-Muhibbah Open University, Abuja

Licensed in 2023, Al-Muhibbah provides open education across Nigeria. It accepts students based on O’Level performance without UTME.

The school focuses on remote learning and makes higher education more accessible for underserved communities.

What About JUPEB and IJMB?

These pre-degree programmes help students enter 200-level in many universities.

However, they require long preparation time and can be expensive. Also, admission is not always guaranteed.

Conclusion

If JAMB has blocked your path, these five universities offer a fresh start.

All you need is your O’Level certificate and the drive to move forward.
