8 jailed 40 years each in Adamawa for killing 2 NDLEA Officials

A Federal High Court sitting in Yola, Adamawa State has sentenced eight persons to serve prison terms of 40 years.

That is four years after two Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency [NDLEA] officers were gruesomely murdered by some drug peddlers.

The presiding judge, Justice Bilikisu Aliyu in her ruling sentenced each convict for 40 years on two count charges.

The sentence came after their confessional statement that they are responsible for the death of the NDLEA personnels.

She explained that each of them will serve 20 years imprisonment for each offense ranging from:

– obstruction of NDLEA men on duty and,

– conspiracy in killing two NDLEA officers while performing their constitutional obligation.

According to her the judgment will serve as deterrent to other hooligans in the state who engage in unwholesome activities

The state commander of NDLEA, Mr. Yakubu Kibo and head of its legal team Barrister Buhari Abdulahi, spoke to reporters shortly after the court verdict.

They commended the judgment saying that it will serve as a moral boaster to the organization.

Kibo added that four years after his men were gruesomely murdered the perpetrators of the act were finally brought to book.

He noted that they would not be deterred in their battle to rid the state of drugs.
