About 800 school leavers in collaboration with the Northern Youth Assembly and Zamfara State Budget Working Group have concluded plans to stage a peaceful protest in Gusau tomorrow (Tuesday).

In the protest, they will want the Governor Abdul-Azeez Yari Abubakar of Zamfara State to step down as Chairman of Nigerian Governors Forum over failure of his administration to pay the 2014/2015 WAEC and NECO fees.

Chairman of the group, Munir Haidara Kaura, disclosed this to newsmen in Gusau in a press conference.

Munir Haidara Kaura said the decision was due to what he called the unwillingness of the Governor Abdulaziz Yari “to save the future of the children who have spent close to two years at home doing nothing”.

“We have mobilized over 800 school leavers whose results were withheld due to non-payment of WAEC and NECO fees across the 14 local government areas. No serious government would allow its citizens to suffer like this,” he said.

According to him apart from their groups, there are other civil society groups and like-minded citizens who have promised to join the peaceful protest.

He said they would also send a letter to President Buhari, to intervene in the matter.
