Buhari’s plane nearly crashed with him and his aides

A new book released in Abuja on Tuesday revealed that Buhari’s plane almost crashed with him and his aides in November 2015, just six months after he was sworn in as Nigeria’s president.

According to Femi Adesina’s book Working with Buhari: Reflections of a Special Adviser, Media and Publicity (2015-2023), Buhari’s plane encountered severe turbulence while traveling to Malta for a Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting.

The report stated that the turbulence was so severe that when the plane landed in Malta, a deeply frightened President Buhari asked the pilot, What kind of landing is this? The pilot had to apologize to the President and the other passengers who were also troubled.

According to the report, the presidential jet experienced many hours of turbulence and wind shear, which resulted in a frightful experience for the passengers on board

During our flight to Malta for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in November 2015, the crew announced that we should prepare for landing, but the flight suddenly became eventful.

Just seconds before touching the tarmac, the Boeing 737 business jet was buffeted from all sides and began to sway dangerously.

When it touched down, it pirouetted and gyrated like a drunken sailor and almost turned over

The frightened President Buhari asked the pilot, What kind of landing is this? The pilot immediately apologized to the President.

We have just experienced what is called wind shear, a sudden change in the direction of wind. Apologies Mr. President, and distinguished passengers, the pilot replied
